Championship Conditions
Competitors must conform in all aspects to the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by R&A Rules Limited.
The Championship shall comprise of 72 holes of stroke play, which will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Limited, and with Local Rules as approved by the Championship Committee (Committee).
Entry will be limited to 90 competitors. Competitors will play one round at The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club and one round The Royal St George’s Golf Club. The top 40 lowest scores over the 36 holes, and any tying for 40th place, will qualify for the final 36 holes to be played at The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club on Saturday 30th August. The remainder will be eliminated.
The cut and the starting times for Saturday will be completed as soon after the Friday round as possible. All competitors should check if they have made the cut and discover their starting times will be emailed to players making the cut.
In the event of a tie after four rounds, the winner will be decided by a sudden death play-off. Ties for other places will be decided on a count back of the last 18 holes, or the last 9, or 6, or 3, or 1 hole. If a tie still occurs for those positions, the prizes will be shared.
If it becomes impossible to complete the Championship in accordance with the above conditions, because of adverse weather conditions, or other circumstances, the Committee shall be empowered to vary such conditions to the extent necessary to achieve a result in the time available.
The Specimen conditions in the Rules of Golf are in effect as regards Driving Clubs and Conforming Golf Balls. A list of all conforming golf balls and driving clubs is available on the R&A website at www.randa.org
Competitors shall walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the Committee.
A competitor must not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance. A competitor must, if requested, submit to a random drug test. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any competitor making false statement on his entry form, or to refuse an entry without giving reason for its decision.
The Competitor shall start each round at the time laid down by the Committee, with the Note to Rule 5.3 being in effect.
The Committee reserves the right to fix and / or alter starting times and to alter or amend any of the conditions.
The Committee’s decision in all disputes is final.
Conditions of Entry
Entries will only be accepted from male competitors of any nationality whose handicap index, at the time of entry, is 1.4 or less.
The exact handicap index certified at the closing date for entries will be used for all entry purposes.
All competitors’ handicaps must be verified by the Secretary of the golf club from which they elect to enter. Competitors entering from the USA must seek handicap verification from their home State Association. Other competitors entering from overseas must provide handicap verification from the Secretary of the recognised authority controlling golf in the country from which they elect to enter.
The entry fee of £100 Sterling is required upon entry.
Refunds for those not making the ballot will be processed on the first day of the tournament.
All entries will be subject to approval by the Committee which reserves the right to accept or refuse any entry without giving reason for its decision.
No entry fee will be refunded unless significant notice is received before the closing date for entries.
Any competitor who withdraws after the Starting Sheet has been published must, without delay, furnish the Committee with an explanation in writing. Any competitor, whose withdrawal is not notified within 48 hours of the start of the Championship, may have future entries rejected.
General Information
No practice facilities will be available before the official practice day at either club.
Practice – A courtesy practice round, for competitors only (when only one ball may be played), is offered at The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club on Tuesday 26th August 2025 and The Royal St George’s Golf Club on Wednesday 27th August 2025. Practice starting times must be booked through the Secretary’s Office at the relevant club. Caddies – Any request for a caddie should be directed to the Caddiemaster at The Royal St George’s Golf Club on +44 (0) 1304 626931, or caddiemaster@royalstgeorges.com at least one week in advance. There is no restriction on a player’s choice of caddie.
Registration – All Competitors, who are not playing a practice round at either Club, are requested to register with The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club between Monday 25th August and Tuesday 26th August 2025. This can be done by telephone, email, or in person. person. Those who do book practice rounds, can simply register on the morning of round 1 at The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club. Registration on each competition day will start from 0600 and all players are expected to register at the relevant club, on each day in readiness for the start of their round. Those who qualify for the final 36 holes will need to register at The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club on Saturday 30th August 2025, prior to the start of round 3.
The Draw - The draw for rounds 1 and 2 will be made shortly after entries close. Copies will be published on both The Royal Cinque Ports and The Royal St. George’s websites, www.royalcinqueports.com or www.royalstgeorges.com. It is the competitors’ responsibility to establish his starting time on each day.
Dress Code – Dress in both Clubhouses is smart casual, no jeans, trainers, hoodies, or golf shoes.
Catering will be available throughout the Championship on competition days from 0700 to 1600.
Mobile telephones are not permitted in either clubhouse or on either course at any time.
